John 7:40-52 Why We Do What We Do

In John 7:40-52, we see the effect of Jesus' gospel invitation in the temple. It causes division, ridicule, and persecution just as it does today. If that is so, why do we do what we do? Why don't we just be quiet and lay low with this offensive message?
